Hey all.....i jus did the "short ram" conversion to my AEM CAI setup.

The reason for this is, i have an EREBUNI SHOGUN front facia, which makes for PERFECT cold air to the filter. But seein that my car is a DAILY DRIVER, this "hole" is also a great way of WATER INJECTION!!! Especailly behind the HUGE Semi-trucks.

So i figured i had nothing to loose, so i jus removed it, hacked, filed, smoothed, cleaned and now i have a REAL filter on a stick....

I drove it.....no gains, nor loses that the BUTT dyno can feel. Which is good for me!

Have any of you done this? Did you have the same results i did?

Any tips, tricks you can send my way?

    Thanks!
    Tony

I also have a "filter-on-a-stick"... and at the track, when I remove my pass. side headlight housing, I drop between .15 and .25 seconds off of my 1/4 mile times !!! Sounds like a "Gain" to me...

i did this too, cuz it was rubbing on my frame. I did feel more up top. It had been feeling "choked" at high rpms and now it doesnt. Only butt dyno though, no real dyno info.

You should hold on to the lower part and get a rubber connecter (like the ones AEM uses) so you can run a "Cold Air" setup when you want and then the "Dry land" other times. I have seen alot of people doing this lately (I actually read it) with the AEM's.

I have kept the lower piece to my AEM, and to my surprise.....there was a place right at the last elbow before the filter that had almost RUBBED THROUGH!!!!!

O well.....i guess i piece of rubber, and tape would fix that....

    Thanx for the help guys!

    Question

Don't they sell the short tube version of the AEM intake? I believe so?

    Question

Is there a larger diameter CAI than AEM provides?

No doubt. And who could you get to copy the AEM in a 3" form? What materials?

Frankly AEM's intake is overpriced, and the company is a really nasty.

You can get, for example, and cold air intake from Tenzo-R for about $100.00 (larger pipe too)
